- It is well with my soul -

This is one of my favourite quotes.

The first time I heard this statement, was at Church as it played in a song. The band playing the music for the Service that day, were remarkable. Everything from the way the drums thumped beneath your feet as the guitar sent shivers to your heart, to the chills the voice behind the lyrics, sent rushing down your spine, resonated with me.

To this day, months later, I hear the way the band played not only that song, but multiple heart and soul resonating songs. I cried, holding my heart, as the band played their music, so passionately.

To me, this statement has meaning beyond the depth of an ocean.

When understood correctly, the meaning of this phrase can not only move mountains, but also, move your entire belief system and perceptions.

Have you ever felt that euphoric bliss. The chills or stillness that just come through your entire body, from the inside out?

Ive lived in Vancouver previously, before moving back to Ontario where I hit rock bottom of the depression ladder.

It wasn't until after I moved back to Vancouver, did a moment of stillness, really sit well with my soul.

I was laying on the beach with a co-worker/friend. We chatted and really connected on more than a few levels. We were literally in sync from our hobbies, thought patterns, goals, outlooks, etc. It was actually shocking - wonderfully shocking.

As we had an amazing day exploring, walking for hours, laughing, and enjoying the company of a REAL friendship, we sat back and just embraced the warmth of our hearts.

The sun was shining down upon my skin, with the sound of the ocean calming my mind. I could smell the fresh salt water, as I squished my toes in the sand.

This. Is. Bliss.

I sat there and just thought, wow.

- It is well with my soul -

Everything I have gone through; it is well with my soul.

Every tear I shed; it is well with my soul.

Every fear I had; it is well with my soul.

The way I spent my day; it is well with my soul.

My lack of predicting the future; it is well with my soul.

The trauma from the past; it is well with my soul.

I felt overwhelmingly content with all the past "problems", obstacles, years I had spent. I was at peace with not knowing the future, where I am headed, my purpose, path or destiny.

Because in that exact moment, nothing mattered.

In that exact moment, it was well.

In that exact moment, I was bliss.

Because, in that exact moment,

It was well with my soul.
